The Riverstone community is being invited to have its say on the future of their town, with the Riverstone Town Centre Rezoning Proposal set to go on public exhibition in the second quarter of 2025.
Led by the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, the proposal presents a bold vision to transform Riverstone into a vibrant, connected and liveable centre—supporting Sydney’s growing North West while honouring the town’s unique heritage.
Despite being in the heart of the North West Growth Area and experiencing significant population growth over the past 15 years, Riverstone has not received the investment its neighbours have. This long-overdue proposal aims to change that.
It outlines a comprehensive plan to deliver improved transport connections, diverse housing, public open space and new local job opportunities—while preserving the strong community and history that define Riverstone.
Understandably, many in the community are sceptical, noting this conversation has been ongoing for years. The difference now is that the proposal is a State significant project, backed by Ministerial oversight and clear milestones to drive progress.
Importantly, the upcoming public exhibition phase is an opportunity for residents, businesses and stakeholders to shape the final plan. Community input is central to the process, and every submission will be considered.
Finalisation is expected in early 2026, marking a major step forward in establishing Riverstone as the civic, cultural and economic heart of the North West.
This proposal sends a clear message: Riverstone’s future is finally being taken seriously. The town centre it deserves is within reach.
