Sri Om Care Expands with Foundation Stone Laying for Second Assisted Living Facility

By Rajiv Chaudhri - Editor in Chief

On 27th August, Sri Om Care marked a major milestone with the foundation stone laying ceremony for its second aged care facility at 2 Northcott Road, Lalor Park. The event brought together distinguished dignitaries, community leaders, and well-wishers to celebrate this new chapter in the organisation’s journey of service.

Founded in 2006, Sri Om Care has been a pillar of support for seniors and vulnerable individuals across Western Sydney. The organisation provides a wide range of essential services including Day Centres and In-Home Care, Disability Support and Flexible Care Packages, Transition and Respite Care, Advocacy and Allied Health Services. Its innovative Assisted Living Model offers 24-hour culturally familiar care, coupled with social engagement and wellness programs, ensuring residents live with dignity, comfort, and a strong sense of community.

The Lalor Park ceremony was attended by Mr. S. Janakiraman, Consul General of India in Sydney, along with state and local representatives including Stephen Bali MP for Blacktown, representing NSW Premier Chris Minns; Mark Taylor MP for Winston Hills; Warren Kirby MP for Riverstone; Councillor Sameer Pandey; Councillor Moninder Singh; and Councillor Julie Griffiths representing Blacktown Mayor Brad Bunting. Their presence highlighted the importance of this initiative for the multicultural and broader community.

The event commenced with a Bloomi Pooja (groundbreaking prayers), performed by Sri Om Care’s President, HH Sri Om Gnanasakthiyendra Swamigal, together with the dedicated Sri Om Care team. The traditional prayers invoked blessings for the success, harmony, and prosperity of the upcoming facility, which will soon provide much-needed care for seniors in the region.

Importantly, the foundation for this project was strengthened by bipartisan support. Earlier, Dr Andrew Charlton MP for Parramatta met with the Sri Om Care team and laid the first brick, symbolising the beginning of this vision. This was followed on Friday, 29th August, by Attorney General Michelle Rowland MP, who laid another stone, reinforcing the commitment to this aged care home. The project has been funded by the Federal Government, an initiative spearheaded by both leaders in recognition of the pressing need for culturally sensitive aged care.

Following the ceremony, guests and community members enjoyed a warm gathering over lunch, where sweets were distributed in keeping with Indian tradition, symbolising joy and auspicious beginnings.

Reflecting on the milestone, HH Sri Om Gnanasakthiyendra Swamigal said:

“Our vision has always been to serve the elderly with love, respect and dignity. This new facility at Lalor Park will not only provide care but also create a home filled with cultural familiarity, spiritual warmth and a sense of belonging. We are deeply grateful to all who have supported us on this sacred journey.”
