Liberal MP Ray Williams Roasted by The Fair Work Commission

Local Kellyville MP Ray Williams set out to score cheap political points – but instead exposed a lapse in judgement that’s hard to ignore.

What was meant to be a jab at the Minns Labor Government quickly unravelled into a self-inflicted controversy.

Kellyville MP Ray Williams has been criticised for a social media post targeting Sydney Metro staff, resulting in a Fair Work Commission investigation into potential bullying.

Williams didn’t just get the facts wrong, he publicly targeted frontline workers who had done nothing wrong, posting their image and implying misconduct without even checking the basics. This from a man who was elected to NSW Parliament since 2007 and a Senior Minister from 2017-2019.

That’s not satire. That’s recklessness.

At a time when public trust in politicians is already under strain, this episode raises serious questions about his judgement and responsibility. Taking photos of workers on public transport and broadcasting them to thousands – all to push a political narrative – crosses a line most would expect an elected representative to respect.

The involvement of the Fair Work Commission and action by the Rail, Tram and Bus Union only reinforces how far off the mark this was. This wasn’t just a political misstep – it escalated into a workplace issue serious enough to warrant formal proceedings.

Williams may now describe the post as “tongue-in-cheek” and “regrettable,” but the damage was already done. The reality is simple: if you’re going to criticise, you need to get your facts right especially when real people are caught in the crossfire.

For many in the Hills, this isn’t just about one post from MP Ray Williams. It’s about his pattern of behaviour that prioritises political point-scoring over accountability and respect for the community. The people of his Kellyville electorate deserve so much better than this from a sitting member of our State Parliament.
