Every year on September 10, the world comes together to mark World Suicide Prevention Day, a time to raise awareness, foster hope, and remind one another that every life is precious. Suicide remains one of the leading causes of death globally, yet it is preventable. By encouraging open conversations, reducing stigma, and building supportive communities, we can all play a role in saving lives.
As part of this year’s commemoration, The Community Foundation of North Western Sydney, in association with India Club Inc., will host a special screening of Brewed Anew, a short film by filmmaker Rajiv Chaudhri, at Event Cinemas, Castle Hill, from 11am on Wednesday, September 10. The event is proudly supported by Hills Sydney Digital Magazine and Alive 90.5FM.
Brewed Anew is a moving story about resilience and human connection. It follows a young man, overwhelmed by inner turmoil, who finds himself on the edge of despair. Just as he feels there is no way forward, an unexpected encounter becomes a turning point, reminding him that hope can emerge even in life’s darkest moments. With sensitivity and honesty, the film sheds light on the silent struggles many face, while delivering a powerful message of support, compassion, and the possibility of renewal.
Following the screening, a panel discussion will take place with mental health advocates, community leaders, and experts to further explore the themes of the film and share resources for those in need.
