Sydney’s Indian community came together in style to celebrate India’s 79th Independence Day with a vibrant evening of culture, cuisine, and camaraderie hosted by the Consul General of India Mr S Janakiraman. The gala dinner and cultural program at ICC Darling Harbour Theatre, brought together leaders from politics, business, community and the arts, reflecting the strength and pride of the Indian diaspora in New South Wales.
The celebration was marked by a rich showcase of India’s diversity, music, dance, and traditions woven seamlessly into a program that highlighted both heritage and modernity. Guests were treated to a cultural feast before sitting down to a dinner that offered the best of Indian flavours, capturing the essence of the subcontinent’s culinary tradition.
The evening was further elevated by the presence of distinguished guests including NSW Premier Chris Minns, Minister for Multiculturalism Steve Kamper, and Opposition Leader Mark Speakman.
