Born to Sing: Lisa Budin Carrying the Sound of a Generation
By Martin Cartwright
Lisa Budin was born in London, Ontario, Canada, and moved to Australia as a teenager. From an early age, she has had a deep love for music and singing, starring in numerous school musicals, including a lead role in The Snowqueen.
During high school, Lisa performed in a harmony trio, entertaining at private functions and engagements, and trained with A1 Professional Music Studio. She went on to develop a specialisation in the music of The Carpenters, possessing a voice ideally suited to the timeless melodies of the 1970s.
Her acclaimed show, Remembering The Carpenters, celebrates the life and music of Richard and Karen Carpenter and features 24 classic songs, performed with a six- to nine-piece band depending on venue and budget. The show is fully charted for a two-hour performance and can also be presented in a smaller, more compact format if required.
With a warm personality, quick wit, and commanding stage presence, Lisa is a versatile performer who is equally comfortable in intimate settings or large venues. She is available to perform solo, as a duo or trio, and has an extensive repertoire.
Lisa has performed at numerous cabaret shows, weddings, and club variety luncheons. In 2008 and again in 2009, she produced and headlined six highly successful performances of Remembering The Carpenters at the Sydney Opera House, where she was the lead vocalist.
Now in high demand, Lisa Budin is renowned for a voice remarkably true to Karen Carpenter’s and is widely regarded as a rare and exceptional talent.
