The opening of Tallawong Public School on Day One of Term Two 2026 marks a major milestone for families across our North West Sydney community.
For our rapidly growing region, it is my priority to ensure every child gets a world-class public education, right where they live. This new school represents a long-awaited investment in the future of Tallawong’s young people, providing world-class learning environments from the very first day students walk through its gates.
Tallawong Public School has been designed with contemporary education in mind. The campus includes 24 modern classrooms, alongside three dedicated support learning classrooms to ensure students of all abilities are catered for. High-quality amenities are integrated throughout the school, complementing core facilities such as a canteen, hall and library that will quickly become central hubs of student life. Outdoors, students will benefit from a sports court and expansive play areas that encourage both physical activity and social development. Importantly, the school has been built with fully accessible spaces, as well as thoughtful parking and landscaping, ensuring it is welcoming and functional for the entire community.
For twelve years, the previous Liberal Government loaded our community with growth but failed to deliver the school infrastructure our community needs. The consequences were felt in overcrowded classrooms and stretched resources.
Under the Minns Labor Government, that trend is being reversed. Alongside Tallawong Public School, significant investments are being made in a new high school and another primary school in Tallawong, a new primary school in Nirimba Fields, a new primary school in Grantham Farm, and important upgrades to existing schools in Schofields and The Ponds. This coordinated approach reflects a clear commitment to planning for growth rather than reacting to it.
The improvements extend beyond infrastructure. In my electorate of Riverstone, the Minns Labor Government has reduced teacher vacancies by 71%, meaning your child gets more one-on-one time with their teacher.
We know there’s a lot more work to do, but I’ll keep working with Premier Chris Minns to keep delivering better schools and more teachers across North West Sydney.
