The Albanese and Minns Labor Governments have hit the go button on another major win for our community, our $744 million upgrade of Richmond Road.
This is one of the most significant infrastructure investments in North West Sydney, transforming nearly four kilometres of one of our busiest corridors. The upgrade will add new lanes, shared pedestrian and cycle paths, improved flood protection and a new flyover from the M7 Motorway to Richmond Road northbound, tackling one of the region’s worst traffic choke points head-on.
For local families, this means less time stuck in traffic and more time at home with your family.
This project builds on the Minns and Albanese Labor Governments’ record investment in North West infrastructure. From critical roadworks around the future Rouse Hill Hospital, to the duplication and future connection of Townson and Burdekin Roads in Schofields and upgrades to Bandon Road and both Garfield Road East and West. Each of these projects forms part of a comprehensive plan to build a better community for all of us.
Construction on the Richmond Road upgrade will begin in early 2026, delivering safer and faster journeys for residents in Marsden Park, Colebee, Riverstone and the whole of the North West.
This is what good government looks like. Forward planning, real investment, and a commitment to getting the basics right. The Minns Labor Government is building the roads, hospitals and public transport links that will keep Sydney’s North West moving for decades to come.
There’s more work to be done, but I’ll keep working with the Member for Greenway, Michelle Rowland and Premier Chris Minns to build better roads for the North West.
